Common Wrap Problems

Excessive film breaks

Most common causes of film breaks on Lantech L-Series machines:

  1. Film quality issues such as gels, gauge bands, blocking, and bad winding can significantly impact the number of film break. If poor film quality is suspected, we suggest contacting your purchasing department or the film supplier. It may be necessary to lower the film tension by one or two points.

  2. Sharp load corners or severely inboard product layers can cause film breaks. These breaks can be reduced by lowering film tension by one or two points. Other alternatives include lowering film pre-stretch % (requires parts from Lantech) or find a film designed with extra ability to conform around irregular shapes.

  3. Mechanical and control faults can also contribute to excessive film breaks. It’s recommended to contact Lantech Technical Service (800-866-0322 prompt 3).
